Northridge Middle School weekly information for February 10

Make sure you have signed up for Bookin’ It 5K which is on February 29, 2020 at 8:00 am at the Magnet School.  All proceeds go to funding the Tuscaloosa City Schools libraries.   Registration link for Bookin’ It 5K

Last week Mrs. Ingram received word that there will be changes in the Math Progression set by the State Department.  The Tuscaloosa City Schools is working with the State Department and will provide guidance this week.  As soon as the school gets math information, it will be sent to parents.

Northridge Middle School will not be able to deliver balloons, flowers, stuffed animals, candy, or other gifts to students as this can interfere with instruction.  In addition, students will not be allowed to carry those items around during the school day.  Please make sure students understand so they aren’t upset when asked to leave items in the front office.

Book Buffett
This year NMS will be hosting our first ever Book Buffet.  This event will help put books in the homes of our students and their family.  Here is where we need YOUR help. We need books…gently loved and used books are perfect.  We need books for children of all ages up through adult readers. We are requesting donations from Tuesday, November 12 through Friday, November 22. Books can be dropped off in the office during school hours for those days. Together, we can positively impact and grow readers in our community.

We hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving break with friends and family.  December is going to be a busy month!   Students will be finishing up the first semester,  planning for Benchmark Exams, concerts will be coming up and sports continues too.   Please don’t forget to have your student check the Lost and Found.  Items not picked up by the end of the week are donated to Temporary Emergency Services.

Flu Clinic for Students
There will be a Flu Clinic for students on September 18th.  If you did not receive the form to receive an immunization, please contact our school nurse. Nurse Cannon can be reached at rcannon@tusc.k12.al.us.  She will be able to guide you through the details.

8th Grade:  Meeting for Boston field trip fundraiser 5:30 pm in the library to discuss the first fundraising opportunity.  Parents who wish to defray the cost of the trip should plan to attend.  If you haven’t signed your student up for the trip, it is not too late.  The deadline to register is October 1, and this fundraiser could possibly help with the entire deposit and first payment.
